Connect with Your Voice: An Introductory Workshop with Julia Kelly

  • Esquina 559 17th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Do you wish your voice sounded or felt to you more like…you?

Join voice teacher and theater artist Julia Kelly to cultivate your awareness of the whole-bodymind experience it is to free the voice within you and release it out into the world. Linklater voice work is akin to powerful healing modalities for easeful, functional movement like Alexander and Feldenkrais; it is a deeply researched progression of guided somatic exercises for the health and wellness of the voice.

We’ll explore foundational concepts of Linklater voice work: cultivating physical awareness, finding relaxation for easeful breath, freeing vibration in the body and developing resonance. This exploration begins in a personal sphere; it won’t be necessary to memorize text or give monologues to the room.

Come investigate the beautiful complexity of our everyday speech in a curiosity-driven, low-stakes, safe space. Learn why great performers like Sir Patrick Stewart and Bernadette Peters have trusted in Linklater methods– taught across leading New York City acting programs for decades– but skip the audition!

No experience necessary. This workshop welcomes learners at all levels who seek a more connected relationship with their speaking voice.
