Forró is a lively and joyful Brazilian dance that combines smooth footwork with infectious rhythms, typically danced to traditional live music. Originating in the Northeast of Brazil, Forró is all about connection and fun, whether you're dancing in pairs or with friends. It’s a dance that anyone can pick up, no matter your experience level, plus it’s an accessible way to feel the vibrant culture of Brazil while having an great time on the dance floor!

About the Instructors
Dora Flor
Originally from Bahia, Dora Flor was raised immersed in Capoeira, Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and diverse dance traditions. As a percussionist, she had already been playing forró music when her move to New York City in 2021 sparked her deep immersion in forró dance. Since then, she has worked as a forró instructor, teaching at Capoeira and Forró festivals and producing forró events in NYC. Dora also plays percussion in many music projects, including the forró band Mel de Cacau.
Davi Tozoni
Daví Tozoni, originally from Campinas, São Paulo, a city with a vibrant cultural diversity, ventured to New York City to pursue a PhD in Computer Engineering. It was here, in 2019, that he discovered his passion for forró. Since then, Daví has embraced multiple roles within the forró community, excelling as an instructor, event producer, and also as a forró DJ, singer, and percussionist, contributing his talents to the band Mel de Cacau and other music groups.
